The Algorithm That Started With $150 and a Rent Problem

My name is Baiye Kenai. Cameroonian by origin. Nigerian by birth. 

Accounting graduate. Self-taught quant developer.

Not your typical founder. Good. Typical founders didn't build this.

The Beginning

I was living in Lagos with $150 to my name and a rent bill I couldn't pay.

I turned to trading. Not because I had a plan — because I was desperate. 

I lost everything. 

Every single dollar. And in that silence after the loss, something shifted in me.

I didn't quit. I got angry in the right direction.

I asked myself one question: 

What if the problem isn't the market — what if the problem is me?

Fear. Hesitation. Greed. Hope. 

Every bad trade I ever made had a human emotion behind it. 

So I decided to remove the human.

Two Years of Building in the Dark

I taught myself to code. No bootcamp. No mentor. No funding. 

Just documentation, forums, and failure — repeated until it worked.

For two years I built, tested, broke, and rebuilt. Hundreds of backtests. 

Dozens of versions. One obsession: 

Create a system that trades the way a disciplined human should trade, but never actually does.

In 2021, Badger Prime took its first real shape. 

A momentum-based algorithm designed to identify high-probability bullish structures on Gold — and execute without flinching.

The Test That Mattered

2022 arrived and destroyed most traders.

The Fed hiked rates from 0.25% to 5.5%. Inflation hit generational highs. 

The crypto market collapsed. Equities bled. 

It was the kind of year that exposes every weakness in a trading system.

Badger Prime didn't just survive it. It held its shape.

That year taught me something more valuable than any return figure: 

A system built on discipline doesn't break when the world does.

From Gold to Ten Markets

What started on Gold quietly proved itself across:

Using the exact same unmodified logic.
